Date of Event : Tue Dec 5, 2017 10:10AM

All Premier, Women’s Community and MCC Club XI cricket scheduled for last weekend was cancelled on Friday due to the dire weather predictions.

In men’s, the scheduled two-day match v Greenvale Kangaroos will now be played next Saturday as a one-day match under the one-day conditions played in rounds 1-6 i.e. white ball, coloured clothing, four points for a win plus potential bonus point; 1st and 3rd XIs at home.

Our Premier women continue to play T20, the 1sts (11am) and 2nds (2.30pm) playing a double header against EMP at Aberfeldie Park away on Saturday. Our women’s community ‘Shield’ team also play Saturday, away to Frankston at Seaford Reserve.

The MCC Club XI Div 2 play Trinity at Trinity College on Saturday whilst the Div 3 team rounds out the weekend’s matches on Sunday, hosting Melbourne Uni at HG Smith.

Not all MCC players have been idle over the past week. Apart from those you know playing for Victoria in the latest Sheffield Shield game v WA (Seb Gotch, Chris Tremain and Cameron White), two of our girls, Olivia Downes and Jordan Watson have been representing Victoria at the national U.18 championships in ACT. After seven T20 matches, Victoria won five, lost one and drew one match, the same as Tasmania and NSW Metro, but placed third on the ladder on net run rate and lost the 3rd/4th play-off. As can happen in T20 cricket, both Melbourne players were given limited opportunities to bat, with Jordan given a bit more time at the bowling crease, finishing with the teams 3rd best average and a decent economy rate.

I’m sure both were looking forward to the three one-day rounds but unfortunately the first two of those have been washed out with only a handful of overs bowled. We wish them well in tomorrow’s final match. Scores can be followed here

Brad Melville, Zac Mevissen (both Vic Metro), Wilson McGillivray (Vic Country) and Paddy Rowe (CA XI) were due to play in the 1st round of the national U.19 championships in Hobart today but their games too, were washed out. The full fixture can be found here

We congratulate Sam Harper and Jackson Koop who have been selected to play in a CA XI to played England in a two-day tour match in Perth next weekend
